William M. Tweed’s background includes a Degree from University of Dayton, Mechanical Engineering Department; Wayne State University Post Graduate Business and Law School; California State Fullerton, MBA Program; hydraulics courses at UCLA; and extensive construction and project management experience.
Mr. Tweed’s work experience with Worthington and Johnston Pump Company gave him the honor of working directly with and getting guidance from icons and authors of the Pump Industry; training under Igor J. Karassik of Worthington Pump, and Val S. Lobanoff of Johnston Pump. Training under, working with and presenting pump seminars with Herman Gruitnik, and John L. “Jack” Dicmas. Mr. Tweed assisted in the writing of and was technical advisor in the latest edition of “Groundwater & Wells” and has served as an expert witness for the State of California.
From 1970 to 1974, Mr. Tweed was District Engineer for the Engineered Equipment Division of Worthington Corporation in Detroit and Los Angeles, coordinating the service and repair of pumps, compressors, natural gas engines, and steam turbines for power plants and major industry users.
From 1974 to 1980, Mr. Tweed was instrumental in the growth and development of Johnston Pump Company Service Division. Accomplishments as Director of Parts and Service include adding seven (7) new facilities to the service organization including the Company’s first Nuclear Pump Service Facility and a Repair Facility in Singapore.
Mr. Tweed was instrumental in developing the vertical pump industry’s first and foremost “Vertical Pump Trouble Shooting Manual” in several languages, and instigated regional pump training seminars for the industry. Other positions included: Director of Marketing and President of Johnston Pump, Canada.
In January 1981, William M. Tweed took ownership of General Pump Service (now known as General Pump Company, Inc.) supporting local municipalities, industrial, agriculture and drillers to develop new water sources, and redevelop existing wells in the Los Angeles, Inland Empire and Orange County areas. And in 2010, Mr. Tweed was fortunate enough to purchase a permanent office and manufacturing and repair facility in Camarillo, California.
